Myths & Facts

Who on earth doesn’t want to have healthy, glowing, bright and even tone skin – Obviously everyone! For that you need to read this blog completely to understand the basics of skin whitening or lightening treatments. In the end, I will also share some tips about how you can look after your skin through which you will be able to get good skin in no time.

Skin color is determined by the amount of melanin present in our body. Melanocytes are a type of cells that produce a type of skin pigment called Melanin. Dark complexion people have more melanin amount, while fair people have less melanin amount. Individual genetic makeup also determines the amount of melanin in your skin. There are certain factors that also affect the production of melanin such as:

  • Hormones
  • Skin damage
  • Exposure to sunlight
  • Exposure to some chemicals
  • Outdoor work or pollution

Brightening means to increase the radiance, vibrancy of the skin. If one’s skin feels full, they will want to make it more radiant or glowing. It is not about changing the amount of pigment in your skin at all! It can easily be achieved by having good nutrition, more sleep, hydrating it well from inside out. When skin is given the ingredients it needs to ‘maintain hydration’, eliminate the build up of dead skin cells, repair skin barrier and protect it from environmental damage ( by applying sunblock from SPF 50-100, plump & glow serum rich in HA & multiberries, and DBON  Microenzyme peel serum 3-4 times a week). You get a brighter, healthier, younger-looking complexion.

What do lightening/whitening products do?

Lightening products are the ones that change the skin color by reducing the amount of melanin. With skin whitening discoloration and uneven skin tone can be corrected. Skin lightening/ whitening includes usage of hydroquinone (highly not recommended all over the world because of potential side effects) Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Vitamin C, retinol & Glutathione.

Skin Brightening ingredients are AHA, BHA, Vitamin C and retinol.

What is the role of wearing sunscreen in skin brightening and lightening?

Sunscreen is very important for skin color and skin health. Sun rays cause loss of brightness & increases skin dullness. Sun UV rays are very harmful and can lead to increased discoloration and more pigmentation naturally. Sunblock is a necessity to have radiant, glowing & eventone skin as it reduces aging sign and UV damage.

Glutathione is an anti oxidant naturally found in human cells that neutralizes free radicals, boosts the immune system and detoxifies the body and it is mainly used for Skin Care, Hair Care, Health Care. It causes lightening by converting melanin to a lighter color and deactivating the enzyme tyrosinase, which helps produce the pigment. Along with glutathione, alpha lipoic acid is also an antioxidant that attacks free radicals and in skin it acts as a substance that can erase fine lines and wrinkles, diminish pores and give skin a healthy glow, this is the reason “Glutadrip” has gotten the world obsessed because of its anti oxidant and antiaging properties as many products contain all these three main ingredients.

Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C)- is an anti oxidant that scavenges free radicals, stimulate collagen synthesis, that minimizes the signs of wrinkles, acts as skin lightener because of its melanin synthesis and inhibiting function, like (Liposomol Vitamin C), Glutavicton C, Ultra GSH, Maxiglow) both in oral & topical (skin creams/lotion).

So love yourself, love your skin and enhance your beauty from inside out & stay happy with a vibrant glow!
